Application: Taurohyodeoxycholic acid sodium salt hydrate is the taurine-conjugated form of the secondary bile acid hyodeoxycholic acid.1 THDCA reduces the size and weight of human gallstones in vitro.It increases bile flow, biliary cholesterol secretion, and bile lipid secretion in rats.2 The combined administration of THDCA and taurodeoxycholic acid prevents TCDCA-induced hepatotoxicity and increases bile flow, bile acid, and phospholipid secretion in rats.3 THDCA can also reduce the activity and expression of myeloperoxidase TNF-α and IL-6, as well as colon damage in the TNBS-induced ulcerative colitis mouse model.
