Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), also commonly called polyvidone or povidone, is a water-soluble polymer made from the monomer N-vinylpyrrolidone. Polyvinyl pyrrolidone is a ketone organic matter, can be used as clarifying agent; Stabilizing agent; Thickener; Tablet filling agent; Dispersant. Polymer PVP with a molecular weight of 360,000 is commonly used as clarifiers for beer, vinegar and wine. Polyvinylpyrrolidone is widely used as thickener, emulsifier, lubricant and clarifier, as well as as the complex of disinfection and sterilization agent PVP-I.
