Methyl 6-methylnicotinate is used in the treatment of CNS disorders using D-amino acid oxidase and D-aspartate oxidase inhibitors. Methyl 6-methylnicotinic acid is a kind of pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be prepared from 6-methylnicotinic acid first, and then reacted with methanol to get 6-methylnicotinic acid. It has been reported that it can be used in the preparation of antibacterial compounds 3-(6-methylpyridine-3-chemicalbook)-4-[(4-methoxyphen-yl) methylene amino]-1H-1,2, 4-triazole-5 (4H) -thione and 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine, which has a wide application value in new organic materials and new drug research and development.
