Dibenzylidenea-cetone is a pale-yellow solid insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol. Dibenzylidenea-cetone is used as a component in sunscreens and as a ligand in organometallic chemistry.
Dibenzyl a-cetone can be used as ligand to prepare palladium catalyst, which is widely used in catalytic hydrogenation, coupling, carbonylation, cyclotrimerization of alkynes and so on.
