1-Formylnaphthalen-2-ol is used in the synthesis of Divin, an inhibitor of bacterial cell division. Also used in the synthesis of adipic dihydrazones with anti-bacterial activity. 2-Hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde is an intermediate in organic synthesis and also an analytical reagent for determination of palladium and beryllium. Fluorescence brightening agent PEB can be synthesized by the ring formation of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalene formaldehyde and diethyl malonate in the presence of acetic anhydride. 28kg2-hydroxy-1-naphthalene formaldehyde, 29kg diethyl malonate and 50kg acetic anhydride were added into the reaction pot, stirred, heated to 130℃, and refluxed for 8h. Remove the heat and continue stirring for 1 hour. Cool to 80Chemicalbook C and let stand for 24h. Suction and filter, wash cake with 10% pure lye, and then wash cake with clean water until neutral. The filter cake was then added to 40kg of alcohol and heated to dissolve. Cool and strain. The filter cake was washed with a small amount of ethanol, then dried at 60℃ and crushed to obtain 36kg standard PEB. Fluorescent whitening agent PEB is mainly used for whitening and brightening of white materials such as cyrolin, polyvinyl chloride and acetic acid fiber.
