Application:

5-fluorocytosine (5-FC), also known as fluorocytosine, 5-fluorocytosine, procalcitol, or amphotericin. The inhibitory effect of 5-fluorocytosine on fungi is due to its entry into the cells of sensitive fungi. Under the action of cytosine deaminase, it removes amino groups and forms an anti metabolite -5-fluorouracil. The latter transforms into 5-fluorouracil deoxyribonucleoside and inhibits thymidine synthase, blocking the conversion of uracil deoxyribonucleoside to thymidine and affecting DNA synthesis. It has a good inhibitory effect on Candida, Cryptococcus, and Geohyphae, as well as on some Aspergillus, as well as mycospores and bottle fungi that cause skin fungal diseases.

5-fluorocytosine is not only an antibacterial drug itself, but also a major intermediate in the preparation of capecitabine. Capecitabine can inhibit cell division and interfere with RNA and protein synthesis. It is an antimetabolic fluoropyrimidine deoxyribonucleoside carbamate drug that can be transformed into 5-FU in vivo by Chemalbook.
