Travoprost is a new type of PG drug developed by Alcon Pharmaceuticals, USA. It is an analogue of PGF2α. It has high selectivity and affinity for PGFP receptor. It is a complete agonist. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a PG drug for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension in September 2006.

Travoprost ophthalmic solution is a topical medication used for controlling the progression of glaucoma or ocular hypertension, by reducing intraocular pressure. It is a synthetic prostaglandin analog (or more specifically, an analog of prostaglandin F2α) that works by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid from the eyes.
