2-Hydroxyacetic acid Methyl Ester is a chemical reagent used in the synthesis of taxol. Also used in the synthesis of Rapamycin, a triene macrolide antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces hygroscopicus.

Methyl glycolate, with its unique molecular structure: possessing both H, hydroxyl, and ester functional groups, has the chemical properties of both alcohols and esters, and can undergo carbonylation, hydrolysis, oxidation, and other reactions, making it an important chemical raw material. The application of methyl glycolate can be widely used in many fields such as chemical engineering, medicine, pesticides, feed, spices, and dyes. Methyl glycolate is easily soluble in cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate propionate, and polyvinyl acetate. It is also an excellent solvent for many cellulose, resins, and rubber. Methyl glycolate can be alcoholized with other alcohols to obtain different esters. Methyl glycolate is not only widely used in various fields such as chemical engineering, medicine, dyes, etc., but more importantly, it serves as an intermediate in organic synthesis and drug synthesis.
