Lifitegrast is an antagonist of leukocyte functional antigen 1, which is used to treat dry eye. Lifetegras can bind to leukocyte functional antigen-1 (LFA-1) and prevent the binding of LFA-1 to its homologous ligand intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). The overexpression of ICAM-1 in cornea and conjunctiva of patients with dry eye disease. The combination of lfachemic Book-1 and ICAM-1 promotes the formation of immune synapses, which leads to the activation of T cells and their migration to target tissues. In vitro studies showed that lifegrant could inhibit the adhesion of T cells to ICAM-1 and the secretion of inflammatory cytokines in human peripheral blood monocytes. The exact mechanism of lifegras in the treatment of dry eye remains unclear.
