Aripiprazole is a new type of highly fat-soluble quinolinone derivative. Its pharmacological action is characterized as a post-synaptic dopamine D2 receptor antagonist and a presynaptic dopamine D2 receptor agonist. It also has the effect of stimulating D1, D3, and D4 receptors; it has a dual effect of partial receptor antagonism or activation on 5-HT1A receptor; it has a complete antagonistic effect on 5-H Chemicalbook T2A receptor. This feature is different from the first-generation and atypical antipsychotic drugs, that is, the second-generation antipsychotic drugs, so it is called the dopamine system stabilizer or the third-generation antipsychotic drugs.
