Trimebutine is a drug for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms and irritable bowel syndrome caused by chronic gastritis. It is a non competitive antispasmodic with mild opioid receptor affinity and obvious anti serotonin effect. It can regulate the spontaneous movement of gastrointestinal tract and increase the synchronization of electrophysiological stimulation and contraction of large intestine and ileum of guinea pigs in vitro.
