Ivabradine hydrochloride is the first selective and specific heart rate inhibitor. It has a selective effect on the sinus node but has no effect on intracardiac conduction, myocardial contraction or ventricular repolarization.

Ivabradine hydrochloride is a hydrochloride synthesized from ivabradine and one molar equivalent of hydrochloric acid, and is used to treat patients with angina pectoris who cannot tolerate-blockers and/or heart failure.
