Application

It is the intermediate of Tropicamide.Topicamide is a kind of anticholinergic drug, white crystalline powder at room temperature, odorless, slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid and chloroform, which can block the iris sphincter and ciliary muscle excitatory effect caused by acetylcholine. The 0.5% solution can cause pupil dilation. 1% solution can cause ciliary paralysis and pupil dilation. Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of droplet mydriasis and adjustment paralysis.

Tropicamide is a synthetic derivative of tropinic acid. It has a low dissociation constant, good intraocular permeability and strong tissue diffusion, which may be the reasons for its rapid initiation and short maintenance time.
