Anti-inflammatory used in ophthalmology. Pranoprofen (7), chemically known as α-methyl-5H -[1] benzopyrano [α, 3-b] pyridine-7-acetic acid, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug developed by Welfide (former Gifford-Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., now Mitsubishi). It was developed as an eye drop by Chiesou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and marketed in Japan under the trade name Niflan in 1981.
