Diphenylprolinol (D2PM), or (R/S)-(±)-diphenyl-2-pyrrolidinyl-methanol, is a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor which is used as a designer drug. (R) - (+) -α, α-diphenyl-2-pyrrolidine methanol has been shown to have amphetamine-like effects and has been used in recreational drug use. It's a new class of synthetic stimulants called pipradol derivatives. It inhibits neurite growth in PC12 cell chemicalbooks, which contributes to its neurotoxic effects. Used as a reagent in the synthesis of the antidepressant (S) duloxetine. For preparation of chiral Corey-Bakshi-Shibata catalysts for organic synthesis.
